About
This is a website about time travel!
Wait… no. Okay, actually, this is a site about human nature. Or, more specifically, it’s about men. Men’s lives, health and style. And also, of course, time travel & human nature. Seriously.
It’s probably all much more related than you’d think. Let me explain.
Time travel & human nature, huh?
Alright, so here’s the deal: I kind of lied. We won’t be discussing quantum physics or whatever else is involved in physically traveling through time. I don’t actually know a damn thing about that.
But I will be primarily concerned with two major timeframes other than right now. Namely, the past and the future. Specifically, how we can use knowledge of our ancient human past and apply it to our future. In a time of rapidly increasing technology I believe the connected become the disconnected (from their nature), and that the best guide as we move into the future is to learn from our past.
You see the fact is, as human beings we did most of our evolving as a species a whole helluva long time (millions of years) ago during the Paleolithic era, and biologically not much has changed since. To me, it only makes sense to live in ways that are natural to our human heritage.
But we can’t just roam on back to the Stone Age and forget about all our progress as humans, either. That’d be a complete waste of shiny iMacs. So, what I’m really interested in is assimilating our nature as humans into an unnatural and technologically advancing world. Because currently we’re doing a piss-poor job at it.
So, like I said, this is a website about time travel and human nature.
Um, so what about the men’s lives, health, and style part?
Well, here’s where things get interesting. I believe there is great wisdom to be uncovered by using the knowledge of our nature and combining it with current science & technology, and applying it to the complicated lives of modern-day man.
I believe the world desperately needs more men in-tune with their nature, purpose and passions; more confident, focused and unique men, free-thinking and at peace mentally, with strong, resilient and healthy bodies.
Note: Not that the world doesn’t need more women like this as well. I just so happen to be a guy, so I tend to have deeper insight when relating to other guys (read: girls are crazy think and behave differently).
After looking around the interwebs I realized there were lots of people with similar ideas to mine. But a lot of them stop at the so-called “Paleo diet” and tend lose site of the bigger picture – it’s not only about eating foods natural to our human heritage, but also exercising, moving and living in such a way. And, obviously, everything simply can’t be answered by looking only at our natural environment and history. Modern man has many more things to be concerned about.
And what does modern man turn to today? The major men’s websites and magazines. These usually fall into two categories: health and fitness (think Men’s Health, Muscle & Fitness, etc), and then style and entertainment (think GQ, Esquire, etc). While both types have their positive sides, it seems to me they all lack a few key things. Fitness magazines tend to simply sell sex and six-pack abs (31 Workouts to Get a 6-Pack!!!!) and are primarily concerned with little more. Style and entertainment mags tend to promote clothing and a lifestyle that is far from attainable for the majority of its readers. Both types usually lack any deep wisdom when it comes to giving solid life advice. And none of these magazines even recognize the importance of our nature as humans, the importance of living in a way conducive to our growth.
I always wished there was one source I could go to for the best (fad-free) health and nutrition information, a source with inspiration and resources to develop a classic, unique and affordable personal style, and a place that had life advice of quality and substance that would make my grandfather proud. I wished there was a source that would also, instead of accepting the status quo, discuss important ideas that tackle the problems of modern society and develop solutions.

About me & contact info.
This site is written by me, Mike Wedick. Born and raised on a small farm in the deep south of Missouri, I moved to St. Louis as a teen. At my new (much larger!) school I played football, where I developed my passion for health and fitness. When I was around 15 years old I picked up my first GQ
magazine, and from there style has been my second love. I attended college at Missouri State University and studied art & design, and dabbled in fashion and entrepreneurship classes before deciding to drop out and follow my dreams.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I don’t have any qualifications that make me any more of an “expert” on style, fitness, or personal growth than the next person (except my personal trainer & fitness nutrition certifications). I don’t have a degree in fashion, nutrition or psychology. But I have managed to personally evolve and change a helluva lot about myself over time, and I keep getting closer to the person I want to be. And I think everyone could benefit from that.

Awesome websites that inspire me.
There’s a few websites that have led to creation of this blog. I’ll probably link to these often, feature some of their content or images, and maybe steal their ideas and claim them as my own (don’t tell anyone). These are some of the best people & resources on the internet, in my opinion:
Zen Habits
The Art of Manliness
Mnmlist
Jason Ferruggia
Mark’s Daily Apple
John Romaniello
Street Etiquette
The Style Blogger
